- All areas of the face and body can be treated. As the light technology targets the oxyhaemoglobin (to treat redness) or melanin (to treat pigmentation) in the skin, the lighter your skin colour, the more effective it will be. You can still be treated if you have darker skin, but you will most likely need a greater number of treatments.
- Is it safe?
- As with any type of IPL therapy, the procedure is completely safe when delivered responsibly. The clinicians who operate the IPL machines at Bronzalicious Tan|Skin|Body have over 10 years experience in IPL treatments, and are highly trained in the GSD 3000 Skin-Rejuvenation procedure.
- How does it work?
- When light is absorbed by pigment (melanin) deep in the skin, it is converted into a thermal heat, causing it to breakdown.
- What happens during the procedure?
- A hand piece is passed over the area to be treated delivering heat. Only the oxyhaemoglobin (blood) or melanin is targeted by the light, while the surrounding skin is kept cool. The GSD 3000 delivers effective in-built cooling to the surface of the skin, making it one of the most comfortable IPL treatments on the market, even for very sensitive skin types.
- How long does the procedure take?
- On average a session takes approximately 20 minutes. The GSD 3000 IPL has a large spot size ensuring quick treatment times and better penetration into the skin. This also means fewer treatments will be required compared to most other IPL machines. On average, you will require 4-8 sessions for best results.
- How long will my recovery be and what can I expect?
- With no down time, you can have your treatments performed at any time of day and return to work with no visible signs of treatment. Recovery is generally immediate or overnight, depending on the size and location of the treatment. The area may be a little red for a few hours.
